IEEE WCCI 2022 is the world's largest technical event on computational intelligence, featuring the three flagship conferences of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS) under one roof:  the 2022 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN 2022),  the 2022 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (FUZZ-IEEE 2022), and the 2022 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation (IEEE CEC 2022).

Evolutionary computing (EC) or metaheuristics in general have demonstrated the ability to solve difficult scientific and engineering problems. In order to achieve good solutions, EC methods need, apart from a suitable form and well-chosen parameters, a large number of objective function evaluations. Any EC parallelization can be very beneficial. In addition, if the algorithms are well scalable, GPU implementation can bring additional advantages. This section focuses on theoretical aspects, scalability of algorithms and practical implementations of EC on the graphics processor platform (GPU). The mission of this section will be to create a space for the presentation of new implementations of old known and new variants of Evolutionary Computing (metaheuristics) on the GPU platform. The authors can present both theoretical implementation problems, the degree of scalability of the given algorithms, and compare the performance of GPU implementation vs. classic CPU implementations for various optimization tasks. We expect this session to bring together the experts from both fields of evolutionary computation and high-performance computing (specializing in advanced GPU implementations).

Papers for this special session should be submitted electronically through the Congress website at, and will be refereed by experts in the fields and ranked based on the criteria of originality, significance, quality and clarity. To submit your papers to the special session, please select this Special Session name in the Main Research topic. All accepted papers of this special session will be published in the IEEE CEC 2022 electronic proceedings, and included in the IEEE Xplore digital library.
